Now another company – Haier of China – has taken plunge into smartphone and tablet business. Haier is a reputed company of China which manufactuers range of household appliances and it is the first time they will be dealing in smartphone and tablets. Probably, they have seen enormous scope for these devices also as majority of them are assembled in China.
Ahead of consumer electronics fair IFA in Berlin, Haier has unveiled two tablets and a smartphone, which are powered by Android OS. The two tablets are the Mini Pad 711 and the Maxi Pad 1012 and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Mini Pad 711 boasts of a resolution of 1024×600 and measures 7″ inches, and the Maxi Pad 1012 has a resolution of 1024×768 and measures 9.7″ inches. Both the devices are equipped with a Cortex-8 processor ,Wi-Fi and 8 GB of storage, which is expandable with microSD.
Haier has also unveiled the smartphone – Pad 5511 which clocks in at 5.3″ inches with a 940×540 display, 4 GB of storage, an 8 MP camera and runs on Android OS and the exact version of which has not yet been specified. These specifications put the Haier smartphone very much in the mid-range, mid-performance bracket.
The company has not disclosed yet prices of above three devices and their delivery schedule. But with the announcement of these devices, Haier has also arrived on the scene and will be aggressive in prices to get considerable leverage especially in the emerging markets. Haier has advantage of presence in the majority of markets and can push their newly launched products through its existing outlets.
