Taiwan based HTC has expanded its Desire range of portfolio and announced the official launch of its much-awaited mid-range HTC Desire 500 smartphone in India, at Rs. 21,490. The HTC 500 sports 4.3 inch display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, HTC Blinkfeed and Video Highlights, which collates your images into a 30-second themed video reel.
The other hardware features of the HTC Desire 500 are its 8 megapixel rear camera,which combines with the dedicated HTC Image Chip processor to create spectacular stills and HD video. It also has a 1.6 megapixel front camera. Its rear camera can record 720p videos and also features Beats Audio. The dimension of the phone are 131.8×66.9×9.9mm and it weighs 123 grams. This smartphone is equipped with 1 GB RAM and internal memory of 4GB, which can be expanded upto 64GB via micro SD card. This device is dual SIM capable (GSM+GSM) and is packed with a 1800 mAh battery.
The HTC Desire 500 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Sense 5.0 on its top, bringing such features like BlinkFeed. HTC’s acclaimed BlinkFeed transforms the home screen into a customisable stream of live information. Drawing on local and global content from more than 2,000 media sources, Blinkfeed links to more than 10,000 articles per day from some of the world’s leading media companies including AOL, ESPN, MTV, The Financial Times and Reuters.
The HTC 500 is available across retail stores in India. The success of this smartphone will depend if the supply chain of this smartphone is not broken. HTC has the dubious repuation of not shipping in time its successful devices to the retailers. Let us hope that this time, HTC has plugged this loop hole and will be able to sell maximum number of Desire 500 during festival period in India.
