HTC One (M8) For Windows Running Windows 8.1 Launched In US

Taiwan based HTC has brought its most successful flagship HTC One (M8) smartphone on Windows platform to boost the sagging popularity of Windows phones. This is the first time that an iconic flagship device like HTC One (M8) will offer multiple operating systems like Android and Windows.

The HTC One (M8) for Windows is available in US exclusively through Verizon Wireless online for a promotional price of $99.99 with a new two-year contract for a limited time or $29.99 per month on Verizon Edge, and is also available in stores.

The HTC One (M8) for Windows has all the same features and metal design of its Android variant, for which it has received world-wide acclaim. The HTC One (M8) for Windows has the same premium design and comes with unique standard features of the HTC One (M8), including HTC BlinkFeed, HTC BoomSound, Duo Camera with UltraPixel technology, a 5MP wide-angle front-facing camera and support for the HTC Dot View case.

The only difference that can be observed in HTC One (M8) for Windows is Windows OS which runs this beautiful and elegant device. Under the hood is Windows Phone 8.1, which has a host of features including Cortana, Action Center, Apps Corner, and Live Tiles. Cortana, Windows’ truly personal digital assistant, makes her HTC debut in this phone. Adept at searching for sushi and setting calendar appointments, Cortana also offers the ability to proactively warn you when it’s time to leave for your next appointment or remind you to pick up milk on the way home.

The HTC One (M8) for Windows is also covered by HTC Advantage, which provides the industry’s only free cracked screen replacement program, along with a commitment to support timely software updates.

“Consumers love the HTC One (M8) and today’s introduction extends that enthusiasm to new audiences hungry for choice in their mobile experience,” said Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC Americas. “HTC fills a gap in the market for unique devices that put a premium on form and function. Microsoft shares our vision, and that’s why we committed to bringing the Windows Phone platform to the HTC One (M8).”

Some of the salient features of HTC One (M8) for Windows:

  • 5-inch, full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels resolution1080)
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2.5 GHz quad-core Krait CPU
  • Windows 8.1 OS
  • 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded upto 128GB via microSD card
  • 2600mAh battery
  • Duo camera consisting of 4 MP UltraPixel primary camera
  • Depth sensor for capturing detailed depth information
  • 5 MP front facing camera

We do not know what arrangements HTC has with Microsoft to offer their premium device on Windows platform, but the question arises whether they can create the buzz in gloabal markets for Windows OS with this step? Only the coming months will answer this question.
