Idea has added two new Android smartphones to its portfolio of 3G smartphones and launched today Idea Ultra+ and Idea Fab. These smartphones run on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS, and are targetted at the young and tech savvy students and professionals. The Idea Ultra+ is priced at Rs. 8,300/- whereas Idea Fab carries a price tag of Rs. 4,999/-. These smartphones will be sold through Idea’s retail channel spread across its key 3G markets including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Kerala, Maharashtra & Goa, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh (East), Uttar Pradesh (West), and Punjab.
Idea Ultra+ is a Dual-SIM smartphone and features a 5 inch display with 960 x 540 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad core processor, paired with 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage. This smartphone also houses 8MP Rear and 2MP front camera. It is packed with 2000mAh battery.
On the other hand, the Idea Fab is also Dual-SIM smartphone and sports a 4 inch display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, and is driven by a 1.2 GHz dual core processor. It comes with 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM,3.2MP Rear and 0.3MP front camera. It is fuelled by 1450mAh battery.
As usual, the buyers of above devices will get 1.6 GB 3G data and Free Idea TV for 3 months, with a pack priced at Rs. 259 for existing subscribers, and 1.6 GB 3G data and Free Idea TV for 3 months, with a pack priced at Rs. 261 for new subscribers.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular said, “With the mobile phone increasingly becoming the first screen for a majority of users across semi-urban and rural India, Idea has remained focus at proliferating mobile internet through these smart devices by making them available at affordable price points for increased adoption. The new Idea Ultra+ and FAB will offer a wider choice of 3G smartphones in the low to mid segment price category, while giving our users an experience of high-end smartphones.”
Idea is the only mobile operator in the country to offer a vast array of affordable 3G devices, targeted at upgrading 2G users to 3G. With the launch of these two new devices, Idea’s portfolio of 3G smartphones has gone up to 19 and the company claims it has already sold over 7.5 lakh devices of its earlier models.
