Finland based Jolla has launched their first smartphone in India. Jolla smartphone runs on its independent operating system, Sailfish OS, which is based on the heritage of Meego, an open source operating system developed by ex-employees of Nokia among others.The Jolla smartphone is priced at Rs. 16,499 and will be sold exclusively by Snapdeal.com from today onwards.
The new Jolla smartphone and Sailfish OS feature a distinct button-less design, and is sleek device having weight of 141 grams. The Jolla smratphone boasts of gesture-based user interface, which has been designed for optimal use with just one hand. It has live multitasking feature and Jolla is the only smartphone that shows all your running apps on one screen, without having to open and close them.
The Jolla smartphone runs on its Sailfish OS and also supports majority of Android apps. This means that users of Jolla phone will be able to run their Android applications in addition to Sailfish apps. The company claims that the Android apps will run on Jolla smartphone without any hiccups.
Jolla smartphone features a 4.5 inch IPS QHD display (960×540 pixels) with Gorilla Glass 2 protection, and is powered by a Qualcomm Dual Core 1.4Ghz processor, paired with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, which has provision of further expansion. This smartphone is equipped with 8MP AF rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera. This smartphone is fuelled by a 2100mAh battery , which is rated to provide 9/10 hours of talk time on 3G networks.
Jolla smartphone is compatible with GSM/3G and 4G LTE networks. It measures 131x68x9.9 mm.
The other unique feature of Jolla smartphone is its “The Other Half” back panel. By attaching specifically designed smart covers, which are made of ultra-durable and scratch resistant polycarbonate, the smartphone becomes alive and unique, utilising preset ambiences and functionalities, such as colours, fonts, sounds, profiles, and applications.

Jolla has medicore hardware specifications with new OS and screen size is 4.5 inches. It will have to compete with the recently launched new Moto G, which is priced Rs. 13,000 and Asus ZenFone 5 priced at Rs.9,999, and other Chinese brands.
