There have been interesting developments recently at Amazon.com, which is the biggest online retail giant of USA. We reproduce below updates of these happenings, which we have received from Amazon:
Fourth Fulfillment Center in California : Amazon is finalizing plans to open a new 1.2 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Moreno Valley, California. This will result in more than 1,000 new full-time jobs at the fulfillment center when it opens. This will be Amazon’s fourth fulfillment center in the state. The company’s other sites are located in Patterson, San Bernardino and Tracy.
Kindle MatchBook : Amazon has launched Kindle MatchBook, a new benefit that gives customers the option to buy–for $2.99, $1.99, $0.99, or free–the Kindle edition of print books they have purchased new from Amazon. Over 70,000 books are enrolled in Kindle MatchBook, with more being added every day.
Amazon Cloud Player Desktop App for Mac : Following the successful release of Amazon Cloud Player for PC earlier this year, Amazon has announced the availability of Amazon Cloud Player for Mac. The new app provides Mac users with a seamless way to manage their entire music library – whether saved on their computer or in the cloud – and shop from the Amazon MP3 Store with a catalog of more than 25 million songs.
Day One–A Literary Journal for the Digital Age : Amazon Publishing has started Day One, a weekly digital publication dedicated to short fiction–including work from debut authors and stories from around the world translated into English–and poetry. Day One will showcase one writer and one poet per week. The first issue is available today and features the short story “Sheila,” by Rebecca Adams Wright, and “Wrought,” a poem by Zack Strait. An annual subscription to Day One is priced at$19.99, but for a limited time, Day One will be available at an introductory price of $9.99 for an annual subscription–52 issues in total.
I think this is a super idea more so if you have lost that favorite book. Unfortunately this does appear to be available in the UK. I have checked my account and cannot find it.
