After getting tremendous response of its recetly launched flagship LG G3 smartphone in its own home country, LG has announced global roll-out schedule of this smartphone. LG G3 will be available in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines from 27th June, followed by the rest of Asia, Europe and the Middle East among other regions in July. The G3 is expected to be launched in India in mid-July. LG will announce the price of the G3 at the time of the launch in respective countries.
The G3 has 5.5-inch Quad HD IPS (2560 x 1440), and its pixel density of 538ppi sets new viewing standard producing images that are sharper and clearer than traditional smartphone displays. LG G3 is equipped with a 3,000mAh removable battery and to further maximize battery efficiency, LG has replaced the metal in the battery cathode with graphite, which will also extend the lifespan of the battery.
The G3 is equipped with 13MP OIS+ camera with innovative Laser Auto Focus, which is the first of its kind in the smartphone industry. According to LG, this technology enables the G3 to capture the best moment — even in low light — by measuring the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam. Rather than having to focus on the subject in preview mode and then pressing the shutter button, with the G3, tapping the subject to focus will simultaneously also trigger the shutter. Moreover, the G3’s 2.1MP front camera incorporates several new enhancements such as a larger image sensor and larger aperture for more light throughput and better-looking selfies.
The LG G3 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (up to 2.5GHz Quad-Core) processor, coupled with 3GB RAM and 16/32GB internal storage option, which can be expanded upto 128GB via microSD card. This smartphone runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS.
The G3 also incorporates the new UX features such as Smart Keyboard, which reduces input errors by up to 75 percent by tracking and analyzing users’ typing habits; Smart Notice, a personal assistant application that provides real-time information and notifications even before being asked. This smartphone also comes with a suite of security features such as Knock Code, which enables users to unlock their device with a pattern of taps; Content Lock, which keeps personal files safe and hidden from view when sharing the G3 with friends, and Kill Switch, which gives G3 owners the ability to disable their phones remotely in the event of theft.
LG G3 smartphones sold in Europe and Asis will have wireless charging features. The G3 can be charged with any Qi wireless charger as well as LG’s own portable wireless charger, which will be sold separately. With LG’s new stand-type wireless charger, the users have the advantage to monitor and charge their phone at the same time by simply placing their device on the charging stand.
It is expected that LG G3 will be priced around Rs. 50,000 in India.
