This month is full of hope and expectations as technical giants like Samsung, Google, Microsoft and Apple are going to announce their new smartphones, tablets and Operating Software. The war for smartphones and tablets will hot up in the coming days after arrival of mini Galaxy S III smartphone by Samsung, Nexus 32 GB tablet by Google, mini iPad by Apple and Windows 8 Surface tablet by Microsoft and Ativ S Windows 8 smartphone by Samsung. These devices are scheduled to be launched in October, 2012 and will create lot of excitement among prospective buyers who could be befuddled also what to buy as there are numerous options available to them.
Samsung Galaxy S III Mini smartphone
Samsung is going to unveil a smaller version of its popular Galaxy S III flagship smartphone in Europe on Thursday, as confirmed by Samsung’s mobile division head JK Shin to Korean media. He did not reveal any details about the smartphone, but this smartphone will have 4″ inch display and will be in direct competition with the iPhone 5, which was unveiled in early September, 2012.
“We’ll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany,” Shin said. “There’s a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it ‘mini.”
If reports are to be believed, the Galaxy S III Mini will come with a 4″ inch Super AMOLED display with WVGA resolution, a 5-megapixel camera, dual core-processor. The phone is rumored to be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Google 32 GB Nexus tablet
Google is set to launch a 32 GB version of its best-selling Nexus 7 tablet and it could go on sale as early as October 24, 2012. The new tablet will offer users much-needed extra capacity and will help Google maintain its position in the 7″ inch tablet market. The tablet is currently only available with 8 GB or 16 GB of storage. Google’s decision to double the capacity of its tablet will be welcomed by all.
Microsoft’s Windows 8 Surface Tablet
Microsoft is scheduled to launch its Surface tablet on its new Windows 8 platform in US on 26th October, 2012. This tablet is 9.3 millimeter thick with a kickstand to hold it upright and keyboard that is part of the device’s cover. It weighs under 1.5 pounds. The device is part of the software company’s effort to compete with Apple Inc. and its popular iPad tablet computer. Initially, this tablet will be sold only in US and gradually to other countries.
But as reported by AFP news agency, Microsoft has struck a deal with the Suning company of China to sell Surface tablets through its network of gadget stores. Suning is already the official distributor of Windows Phone devices for China.It looks as though the upcoming launch of Microsoft’s much-publicized Surface tablet will not be confined to the US. Chinese consumers will also be able to get their hands on the device and decide if it’s as good as an iPad or an Android device.
Apple’s Mini iPad
Apple is reportedly going to release the rumored iPad mini in Wi-Fi version only by the end of this month. This speculation has gained momentum after the news broke out that Apple has reportedly placed an order for 10 million units of the iPad Mini with component suppliers in Asia in the fourth quarter. According to various reports, Asian component suppliers have already started producing the smaller 7.85″ inch tablet. This mini iPad is expected to compete with seven-inch tablets from Google and Amazon – Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD.
