The month of August is eventful for various launches of smartphones in India. We shall be quite busy next month to cover these events and giving to our readers first hand information about the features of new phones and their prices and availability.
To begin with, Lenovo will be launching its K5 Note on 1st August which is improved version of K4 Note and comes in full metal body. On the hardware front, the K5 Note sports a 5.5 inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display, which was also avaialble on K4 Note. The K5 Note is driven by a 64-bit octa-core, 1.8GHz, MediaTek Helio P10 processor paired with 4GB RAM and Mali-T860 GPU. It comes with 16GB of internal storage which can be extended upto 128GB via microSD card. This phone is expected to be priced around Rs. 12,000.
Panasonic is also launching a phone on 1st August and the details of which are not known yet.
On 3rd August, Oppo is launching its selfie-focussed FI s smartphone with unheard of selfie camera features for clicking very good selfies which has become a craze among the youngsters. The Oppo F1s is expected to be equipped with 16MP front camera with various modes and filters and the rear camera could be 13MP/16MP with PDAF and Sony sensor. This phone is also expected to incorporate fingerprint sensor on the home button.
Besides this, it is expected that this phone will have full HD display of 5 or 5.2 inch with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. This phone could be packed with Snapdragon 650 or 820 SOC combined with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage which will have provision for extension of the same upto 128GB. This will get its juice from 3000mAh battery with Oppo’s VOOC Flash Charge technology.
Two leading Chinese brands Gionee and Coolpad are also hosting an event on 9th and 10th August where they are expected to launch new smartphones and the details of which are still awaited.
On 17th August, Huawei is expected to launch its premium smartphones – P9 and P9 Plus. One of the major highlights of both the flagship phones are that they are equipped with a Dual 12 megapixel rear camera.
The RGB camera on the P9 specializes in capturing color, while the monochrome camera is for capturing black and white images of superior quality. The two rear cameras of the P9 work in tandem to enable users to create images of superior detail, depth and color. There is also a laser focusing module on the back, optical image stabilization for smooth video capture, and a dual-tone LED flash. The phone comes with an 8 megapixel camera on the front for selfie enthusiasts.
Huawei P9 features a 5.2 inch full-HD IPS LCD display whereas the Huawei P9 Plus sports a 5.5-inch full-HD Super Amoled display. Both the displays have 1080×1920 pixel resolution The P9 will be available in 3GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variants whereas the P9 Plus will be available only in the 4GB/64GB variant. Both the phones feature a microSD card slot for getting additional space of upto 128GB.
The P9 is packed with 3000mAh battery, while the P9 Plus gets its juice from a 3400mAh battery. Both the phones are powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 955 SoC (4 Cortex-A72 cores at 2.5GHz, 4 Cortex-A53 cores at 1.8GHz) with a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, which is the most powerful graphics chip in a Huawei phone to date. Both the phone run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top.
On the global arena, Samsung will be unveiling its latest Galaxy Note 7 phablet in an event in NewYork on 2nd August. It is expected that this device will flaunt a display of 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. This phablet is expected to be packed with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 or Samsung Exynos 8893 SoC depending upon the markets and could be paired with 4GB/6B RAM alongwith internal storage of 64GB/128GB with further provision to extend it.
This phabelt is also expected to be armed with 12MP primary camera and 8MP front shoote. This device will get its juice from powerful 4000mAh battery.
Besides fingerprint scanner, this phablet is expected to incorporate iris scanner for unlocking the device with your eyes. It will run on Android Marshmallow with layer of Samsung’s new version of TouchWiz. This will also have updated S Pen with more features.
