Micromax has expanded its portfolio of Canvas Unite Series and launched today Unite 4 and Unite 4 Pro. These two phones are priced Rs. 6,999 and Rs. 7,499, respectively. These two will be the first smartphones across the country to be powered with the upgraded Indus OS 2.0 , world’s first regional OS and 2nd most popular OS in India.
The Unite 4 Pro (shown above ) will be sold exclusively by Snapdeal whereas the Unite 4 shown below, will be available at offline retail channels.
These two new smartphones run a refreshed OS-Indus OS 2.0, a smartphone ecosystem in 12 regional languages, including the newly added Urdu and Assamese. The Indus Keyboard in the Unite 4 and Unite 4 Pro has a hybrid keyboard feature, which allows users to type in a mix of English and regional language using the English keyboard. It also has patented word predictions, matra predictions and auto-correction features offering a user-friendly smartphone experience. The OS is also equipped with an inbuilt runtime transliteration feature that runs even without any internet connectivity. The Text-to-Speech feature allows users to translate any text on the smartphone into audio in any of the offered six Indian languages; Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali and Telugu. This function works on text on browser, WhatsApp and SMS, empowering people to talk, type, and text in their own native language, as stated by the company in its press statement.
Another translation feature offered in Canvas Unite smartphones through the Indus OS is the patented Indus Swipe feature. It allows users to swipe right to translate between preferred language and another, and also to swipe left to transliterate. The Unite 4 and Unite 4 Pro come with home screen design with direct access to system apps that are personalized on the basis of the consumer’s usage allowing the consumers to access 80% of the most used features and apps in the first two screens. Both the smartphones are also equipped with a new OS feature – Voice Feedback, which enables convenience and simplification of user-experience. To further abridge the basic features, the smartphones offer a simplified dialer and settings across functions. The Unite 4 and Unite 4 Pro will also allow Indus-to-Indus free messaging, as confirmed by the company.
Both the phones incorporate finger print sensor, 5 inch HD IPS display, 4G connectivity and powerful battery amongst others.
