The new interface MIUI 8 has a refreshing redesign and several innovative new features. MIUI 8 features an overhauled design as seen in the bold colours, interactive animations and system fonts.

With Dual apps feature, the users can now set up two WhatsApp accounts or two Facebook accounts on the same device. With Second space, users can use the same device for two accounts and can set up two entirely different home screens, with different apps, separate user data and independent photo storage with different lockscreen password or fingerprint. New MIUI will support T9 Hindi search on the dialer and users can now search more than 1000 public numbers of the most popular businesses in India.

Photo gallery is one of the most-used apps in MIUI, and it now comes with several optimisations. With quick share controls, users can swipe up to share and change filters with a tap. They can also doodle on photos, add stickers, and make use of enhanced video editing tools with various effects and music.

MIUI 8 also introduces the ability to take long screenshots beyond what can be seen on the screen, which is very useful for sharing long articles in just one image. The calculator app has also been improved with more advanced functions such as bank loan and mortgage interest calculation, as well as currency and unit conversions.

Besides above, India specific ringtones have been introduced to customise the phone.

Beta testing for MIUI 8 in India will begin from 11 July on Mi Max, Mi 5, Mi 4i, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 2 and Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 2, Redmi 1s. The stable version of MIUI 8 ROM will begin rolling out on August 16.
