Ahead of official launch of Moto 360 smartwatch by Motorola at the upcoming event on 4th September, one of the biggest online retailer in US Best Buy had listed this smartwatch mometarily on its mobile site for $ 249.99 alongwith its specifications. The specifications are the same, which have been leaked long ago. However, Best Buy has now removed the listing, probably to keep the excitment brewing for some more times.
As per Best Buy listing, the Moto 360 smartwatch will feature a 1.5-inch display with 320×290 pixels resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. As reported earlier, this watch will run Google’s latest Android Wear OS and will be compatible with Android devices running 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher. This watch boasts of built-in heart rate monitor, pedometer and will also have waterproof feature. It will have the capability to remain underwater up to 3.3 feet for approximately 30 minutes. The other features listed by the online retailer include Bluetooth 4.0 support, stainless-steel case and plastic case back, voice activation and vibration alert etc.
There is nothing new, which has been revealed by the Best Buy as even the price of $ 250 was being speculated in many leaks. For this price, Moto 360 will have to compete with Samsung’s Gear Live and LG G Watch, which are priced at $199 and $229 respectively.
As per the latest revelation by the Korea Times, LG is planning to showcase their latest smartwatch known as LG G Wacth 2 at the upcoming IFA event in Berlin. This smartwatch will also run Android Wear OS and may have an OLED display compared to the IPS LCD display on the current G Watch. This new smartwatch from the stable of LG will be driven by Qualcomm processor, the specifications of which are not known yet.
The smartwatch segmetn is still evolving and it is very difficult to say at the moment whether Motorola can create the magic with Moto 360 at $250, the way it has done with Moto G and Moto E smartphones.
Motorola will also be showcasing its successors of Moto G and Moto X and the range of headphones at its media event on 4th September.
