“One of the best-selling mobile phones of all time, the original Motorola Razr redefined what a mobile phone was as people worldwide proudly flaunted their fashion items”, Motorola Mobility Mobile Devices business country head-sales and operations (India and South West Asia) Rajan Chawla said in a statement.
The Razr series was released in 2004 and was a huge success worldwide. Reportedly, Motorola sold more than 130 million units of the device, one of the best-selling clamshell phones globally. Motorola RAZR 2, marketed as more sleeker and stabler than the previous Razr, was launched in 2007. The new handset is expected to be the key bets for the company in the smartphone segment, which is witnessing strong competition from Apple and Samsung.
As far as Apple iPhone 4S are concerned, they are very expensive in India compared to US and in Hongkong. Only die hard fan of Apple, will buy iPhone 4S devices and Samsung, which is established name in India now and very competitive in prices, will give tough challenge to Motorola in India. One must not forget other smartphones available in India – HTC,BlackBerry and recently launched Nokia Lumia series.
In India market for smartphones has already been flooded and it remains to be seen who will lead the race. Since it is a huge market, everybody will get slice of the cake but who will get maximum share, will be clear in the coming months.
