Motorola has announced the launch of new Moto E ( Gen 2 ) smartphone packed with more features and functionality. To keep this improved variant in economical bracket, Motorola has kept the price affordable for new version also. The two variants announced by the Motorola are Moto E (Gen 2) 3G and the Motorola Moto E (Gen 2) LTE. The 3G variant is priced at $119.99 and the LTE model at $149.99.
Both the variants of new Moto E (Gen 2 ) run on Android 5.0 Lollipop and support single-SIM. They come with identical specifications except difference in chipset. The 3G variant is driven by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 SoC (with Adreno 302) whereas the Moto E LTE variant is packed with a 64-bit quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC (with Adreno 306). Both the devices come with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded upto 32GB via microSD card.
Both the new variants now feature a 4.5-inch qHD (540×960 pixel) display with a pixel density of 245ppi. This display has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and comes with anti-smudge coating. The earlier version of Moto E had a 4.3-inch qHD display.
Both the new variants of Moto E (Gen 2) are equipped with a 5-megapixel rear camera. Motorla has included LED flash in rear camera and also brought 0.3 MP camera in the front, which was missing in earlier version. These cameras come with added features such as with two twists of the wrist, you can launch the camera with Motorola’s Quick Capture feature. And for selfie, you are required to just twist your wrist again to switch to the front-facing camera. No need to touch the screen.
Motorola has also enhanced the battery capacity in the new versions of Moto E. The new variants are packed with a 2390mAh battery.
Motorola has also mentioned in its blog post that the new variants of Moto E come with Moto Display for notifications and updates without interruptions and Moto Migrate to quickly and easily transfer contacts, photos and videos to your new phone.
These two variants also come with interchangeable Motorola Bands and Grip Shells. Motorola Bands will be available in Golden Yellow, Turquoise, Blue, Raspberry, Purple and Red colors and Grip Shells in Golden Yellow, Charcoal, Turquoise, Blue and Raspberry colors.
The new Moto E has begun rolling out in more than 50 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. It will be launched in India very soon.
