Nokia Enters The Phablet Segment With Lumia 1520 & 1320

Atlast, Nokia has understood the pulse of the consumers who are opting for large screen smartphones, a concept made popular by Samsung with its Galaxy Note devices. Nokia has entered big screen smartphone popularly known as phablet segment by launching two 6 inches smartphones – Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320, at an event in Abu Dhabi.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 sports a 6-inch full-HD LCD display with 1080×1920. This smartphone is equipped with a 20-megapixel PureView camera with optical image stabilization, and a front-facing 1.2 megapixel HD camera . The Lumia 1520 is powered by a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. This processor has been fitted for the first time in any Windows phone. It also includes 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, plus the option to add a microSD card (up to 64GB), as well as 7GB of free SkyDrive cloud-based storage. This phone is packed with a 3400 mAh battery, which has built-in wireless charging functionality.  It runs  on Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 OS, with Lumia Black and comes with the third Live Tile column in the Start menu.

The Lumia 1520 comes pre-loaded with  Nokia Beamer app to share content, like pictures, location on a map or even your camera viewfinder from your Lumia to any compatible screen – with people in the same room or even in another location by sending them a link via social media, email or SMS. This phone also comes pre-loaded with Nokia Storyteller app, which automatically integrates the pictures from your phone with HERE location information and creates a chronological picture journey on a map.It also comes with Microsoft Office built in.

The phone features ceramic keys on the side, and subdued icons at the front. It will be available in four colors – white, yellow, red and black. The black phone is made of recycled materials.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is expected to begin selling this quarter in Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, China and Europe (including Finland, France, Germany, and the UK), followed by other markets; and it carries price tag of  USD 749 before local taxes and subsidies. No word from Nokia about India launch date.

Nokia Lumia 1320 – is targetted at emerging markets. The Nokia Lumia 1320 features a 6-inch IPS LCD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution, and is powered by 1.7GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor along with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB inbuilt storage, which can be further expandable up to 64GB via  microSD card and in addition, 7GB of SkyDrive cloud storage is being offered by Nokia. The Lumia 1320 is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and features Nokia Camera app, and runs on  Windows Phone 8 OS, with Lumia Black and also features third Live Tile in Start menu.

The Lumia 1320 comes with  Nokia Music for free streaming of ad-free music and HERE maps and location services, so people can experience the most popular Lumia experiences at a more accessible price.

The Nokia Lumia 1320 will be available in orange, yellow, white, and black and is expected to start shipping in Q1 2014 with an estimated price of USD 339 before taxes and subsidies in China and Vietnam, followed by other Asian markets, India and Europe.
