Contrary to comments by the analysts that newly launched Lumia series Windows based smart-phones by Nokia in UK are not well received, Nokia has confirmed that their new phones were off to an excellent start and they are quite upbeat about its performance in the coming days not only in UK but also in other countries also.
“Lumia 800 sales in the U.K. are off to an excellent start”, Nokia said in a statement. “Based on earliest data the sales start of the Lumia 800 is the best ever first week of Nokia smartphone sales in the U.K. in recent history”.
In a bid to give tough competition to Apple and Google’s Android based smartphones and to give boost to its sagging sales, Nokia changed its strategy in February, 2011 to change its operating software from Symbian to Microsoft Windows on its smartphones, and launched its Lumia series of smart-phones in UK, Germany and France.
Nokia is so upbeat about the response of its Lumia series 800 and 710 Windows based smart-phones that they are planning to roll out new Windows based smartphones in the first half of 2012 , according to Michael Hus, general manager of Nokia Taiwan. In addition to pushing the sale of phones with mango updates, Nokia will make efforts to promote the development of the Windows phone ecosystem, including enrichment of applications.
Nokia is the only company in the world, who have vast experience of hardware and with Microsoft Windows operating system with them, there is no reason that their Lumia series phones should not succeed. Rather, they should be miles ahead of other smartphones manufacturing companies.
Watch out for interesting developments by Nokia! We’ll be covering them all 🙂
