Nokia X To Debut In India On 10th March

Nokia X range of forked version of Android smartphones, which were showcased at the recently concluded MWC in Barcelona, are set to start selling from India from 15th March. Nokia has started sending out media invite for the launch of Nokia X smartphone on 10th March. We shall be covering the launch event on 10th March.

X-screensAt MWC, Nokia had displayed three Android based smrtphones – Nokia X, X+ and XL, running on the new Nokia X software platform, which  is based on Google’s Android. This means that these devices are not pure Android phones but insted run a forked variant of Android. These phone can run the Android apps, which will be curated by Nokia, and are powered by Microsoft and Nokia services. The main drawback of Nokia X smartphones is that the users will not have access to the Google Play Store for downloading the apps.

X-featNokia X and Nokia X+ sport 4-inch 480×800 displays, and has 4GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. These phones are fuelled by a 1500mAh battery. Th e Nokia X comes with 512MB RAM, whereas Nokia X+ comes with 768MB RAM. Both phones are equipped with a 3-megapixel rear camera, but there is no front camera.

The Nokia XL boasts a 5 inches display with 480×800 resolution and is equipped with a 5MP rear-facing, autofocus camera with flash and 2MP front-facing camera. It comes with 768MB RAM and is packed with a 2000mAh battery, while sharing other specifications with its younger siblings.

The entire Nokia X family is powered by the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor and supports Dual SIM.

All Nokia X devices come with free access to Here Maps, with offline maps and integrated turn-by-turn navigation, and Nokia MixRadio for free music streaming and downloadable playlists. All devices are also pre-loaded with a variety of third-party apps and games including BBM, Plants vs Zombies 2, Viber, Vine and Twitter.

Nokia is also throwing free cloud storage from Microsoft’s OneDrive for the buyers of Nokia X smartphones.The company is offering 10GB of One Drive storage for free along with one month of free unlimited Skype calls to landlines and mobiles.

At MWC, Nokia has revealed the price of Nokia X range starting from Euro 89. Interestingly, Nokia X has already been listed online by phone retailer The Mobile Store at a price of Rs 8,500, with expected delivery by 15th March. There is no word about availability of other Nokia X models. It could be quite possible that Nokia may be unveiling only entry-level Nokia X only on 10th March in India. But our assumption is that all the three X models would be unveiled on 10th March.
