One Million Microamx Canvas Spark Series Phones Sold In 6 Months Via Snapdeal

micromax_canvas_spark_white_sideMicromax has announced that that it has sold more than a million Canvas Spark series phones in less than 6 months of its launch exclusively on Snapdeal. This makes the Canvas Spark series one of India’s largest selling 3G phones. Snapdeal, which is the exclusive partner for the sale of the Spark series, provided a platform for the sky rocketing success of the two smartphones as both the models in the range- Canvas Spark and Canvas Spark 2 received more than 90000 positive consumer ratings indicating user delight with their quality. In order to consolidate its leadership position, Canvas Spark 2 is now available with an innovative data package from Airtel that allows consumers to use Whatsapp, the leading messaging platform, free of charge for a period of five months, as per press statement of the company.

Earlier the Canvas Spark and Canvas Spark 2 were sold by pre-registrations method but now they are available via open sale on Snapdeal.

According to Micromax, 3G continues to drive mobile internet penetration in India with 93 million subscribers and growing 81% year on year. 3G data consumption is growing faster at 160%. Mobile data consumption is being driven by video consumption which now accounts for nearly half of data traffic. Also, consumers spend nearly an hour a day on Chat which is more than social, email and SMS put together.

Canvas Spark was launched in April, 2015 and Micromax claims to have sold more than 20,000 smartphones in less than two minutes in its very first flash sale exclusively on Snapdeal. This smartphone sports a 4.7-inch qHD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. This phone is equipped with an 8MP AF rear camera with a new generation M8 Largan Lens and OV sensor 8858, and also houses a 2MP FF front camera for selfies. This phone is priced Rs. 4,999.
