OnePlus 8 Series comprising of OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones have just been announced via an online event. Both the phones support 5G connectivity.
On the design front, OnePlus 8 series have fifth generation of matte-frosted glass using a new crafting process with Haze Degree of 64%-82%. The 8 series also have a thinner profile and a lighter weight, so that it can sit comfortably in the palm of your hand.
The OnePlus 8 featuresa 6.55 inch Full HD+ Fluid AMOLED Always on display (2400 x 1080 pixels) with 90Hz refresh rate, support for HDR10+, 3D Corning Gorilla Glass protection and 8 Pro sports a 6.78 inch Quad HD+ 120Hz Fluid AMOLED Always on display (3168 x 1440 pixels) with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and support for HDR10+
Both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are powered by the latest 2.84GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 865 processor with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System and Adreno 650 GPU. The OnePlus 8 comes with 6GB/8GB/12GB LPDDR4X RAM while 8 Pro has 8GB/128GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. Both the phones also come with three-month free trial of 100GB of Google cloud storage.
The OnePlus 8 and 8Pro are packed with 4300mAh/4510mAh battery, respectively with Warp Charge 30T Fast Charging and wireless charging on 8 Pro. The 4510mAh battery is claimed to charge 50% in just 30 minutes and Warp Charge 30T fast-charging solution, can also charge the battery to 50% in just 23 minutes.
These phones support Dual Nano SIMs and run on polished OxygenOS 10.0 based on Android 10 with added features of Dark Theme 2.0 and new dynamic wallpapers which subtly shift color tones based on current outdoor temperature conditions. Both the phones also support Amazon’s Alexa for hands-free and push-to-talk access.
Both the phones have in-display fingerprint sensor and are Water resistant (IP68). Both the phones incorporate Dual Stereo Speakers with Dolby Atmos. Both the phones also offer connectivity options of Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax 2X2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS+ GLONASS and USB Type-C.
In the camera department, OnePlus 8 Pro is armed with quad-camera set-up in the rear comprising of 48MP with Sony IMX689 sensor with OIS+EIS, 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with 120° ultra-wide lens, 8MP telephoto sensor and 5MP depth sensor. On the contrary, the OnePlus 8 is equipped with triple rear camera consisting of 48MP with IMX586 sensor, 16MP ultra-wide camera and 2MP depth camera. Both the phones have 16MP front camera with Sony IMX471 sensor.
The OnePlus 8 Pro comes in Glacial Green, Ultramarine Blue and Onyx Black and OnePlus 8 comes in Interstellar Glow, Glacial Green and Onyx Black colors.
Pricing:
OnePlus 8 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced USD 699 and 12GB RAM + 256GB varaint is priced USD 799 whereas the OnePlus 8 Pro has price tag of USD 899 for 8GB RAM + 128GB of storage and USD 999 for 12GB RAM + 256GB of storage. These phones will go on sale in Europe from 21st April and in US from 29th April. These phones will arrive in India this summer and the Indian prices have not been revealed.
Besides OnePlus 8 series, OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Bluetooth headphones with 20-hour battery life were also announced at the launch event. Available in black, blue, mint and oat, they are priced at USD 49.95.
