After Lenovo,Huawei and Gionee, another Chinese handset maker Oppo is opening its India account on 30th January. We have received media invite from Oppo for a launch event scheduled for January 30, where it is expected to unveil its first smartphone for the Indian market. To market its smartphones aggressively in the Indain market, the company has signed Bollwood heart-throbs Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor as their brand ambassadors.
Oppo has not revealed in its invite which smartphone will be launched in India, but there is strong speculation that they would be unveiling Oppo N1 smartphone with a swivel camera, which was launched in September 2013 in China. The 13MP camera with CMOS sensor and f/2.0 aperture is placed on a rotating swivel capable of rotating 206 degree. According to Oppo, the rotation has been tested 100,000 times to prove its sturdiness.
Oppo N1 sports a 5.9-inch full-HD IPS display, and is powered by a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, coupled with 2GB RAM,16GB or 32GB of internal storage. This phablet is packed with a powerful 3610mAh battery, and runs on a highly customised version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (Color ROM). For connectivity, Oppo N1 will support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC GPS and Bluetooth 4.0.
The million Dollar question is how Oppo fixes the price for its smartphones in India, which is very price conscious market. They will be competing with other Chinese giants, which are quite active in India and the domestic players like Micromax, Karbonn, Lava, Xolo and Intex.
We shall cover the launch event and shall share more information and price details with our readers tomorrow afternoon.
Update: Oppo N1 launched for Rs. 39,999.
