OPPO India is set to launch its Reno13 Series on 9th January 2025. These phones will be equipped with Artificial Intelligence features in imaging and productivity.
The Reno13 Series includes OPPO’s AI Imaging advancements such as AI Livephoto, AI Clarity Enhancer, AI Unblur, AI Reflection Remover and AI Eraser 2.0. OPPO’s AI Livephoto in the Reno 13 Series uses advanced generative AI to record 1.5 seconds of video—before and after the shutter press—in ultra clear 2K hi-def resolution video. It further elevates creative control by allowing users to select a single frame for stills optimised by AI for the Reno 13 Series’ ProXDR display—in 1.07 billion colours—so it looks crisp and true to life. Users can also make granular adjustments like retouching, makeup, and filters, with customisable watermarks for personalised framing.
In the Reno13 Series, OPPO has also introduced AI Clarity, a suite of AI-powered features that delivers one-click clarity in photos and portraits.
AI Clarity Enhancer: This feature enhances photos of distant concert stages and landscapes with crisper detail even at 10X digital zoom and higher. This means you can zoom into a hi-res photo and crop it for precise composition without losing on sharpness.
AI Unblur: AI Unblur on the Reno13 series restores sharpness, colours, and dynamic range to blurry photos so you can even capture the details of the fur on your pet’s face as it runs around.
AI Reflection Remover: Photos captured through glass—whether a sunset from an aeroplane window or city lights from a hotel room—are often marred by reflections. With AI Reflection Remover, these distractions are eliminated to ensure clear photos as if the glass was never there.
AI Eraser 2.0: Whether it is a photo bomber in a holiday photo or an unsightly object in the background, the AI Eraser 2.0 removes them effortlessly.
With AI Imaging, the Reno13 series enhances portraits and group photos by generating clear facial details, such as texture, hair, and eyebrows
AI Portrait: This proprietary technology is capable of recognising up to 10 faces in a frame to simultaneously enhance facial details through AIGC—including facial contours, hair, and eyebrows—for those perfect portrait photos
AI Night Portrait: Generative AI boosts the sharpness of faces, reduces image noise, and refines facial contours for evenly exposed photographs with natural colours even in low-lit environments and nighttime scenes.
AI Clear Face: OPPO’s self-trained large AI model generates precise, high-definition details from skin texture to hair and eyebrows for portraits that look blemish-free, yet natural.
AI Best Face: This feature on the Reno13 Series automatically identifies people in photos with closed eyes and corrects them through AIGC.
Another addition to the Reno13 Series is its AI Studio app that runs a proprietary large language model (LLM).
AI Reimage: With OPPO’s stylised redrawing AI capabilities, users can reinterpret their photos with 20+ templates—including classic paintings, cartoon and drawing styles—while preserving the original essence of the image.
AI Motion: AI Motion lets users generate vivid live photos from static images so you can take a still image of yourself and generate an animated moment.
The Imaging AI on the Reno13 Series is backed by sterling cameras. The Reno13 Pro comes with triple rear cameras: A 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS, a 50MP JN5 telephoto camera with OIS with 3.5x optical zoom and 120× digital zoom, – AI technology enhances ultra-zoom shots at 30X and beyond to ensure no details are missed and an 8MP OmniVision 08D ultra-wide-angle camera with a 115° FOV. And both variants, feature a 50MP JN5 sensor for high-resolution selfies at the front.
Additionally, the Reno13 series support 4K Ultra-Clear video recording on both front and rear cameras, with audio enhanced by a tri-microphone system and Audio Zoom for exceptional live concert and performance recording. Combined with AI Zoom capabilities, the tri-microphone system, and Audio Zoom ensure that these phones are perfect for recording concerts and other exceptional-quality performances.
OPPO Reno13 Series is packed with MediaTek Dimensity 8350—fabricated with TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process. The Dimensity 8350 features MediaTek’s advanced NPU, which delivers 8x faster generative AI processing, 2x improvements in compute tasks, supports up to 10 billion parameter LLMs, and achieves a 3.3x boost in AI performance. This results in a 20% performance increase with 30% lower power consumption compared to the previous generation.
The Dimensity 8350 fully supports Reno13 Series’ extensive AI features on the all-new ColorOS 15. With its powerful NPU 780, the Dimensity 8350 delivers a 3.3x improvement in overall AI performance over previous products. It elevates Reno13 Series’ user experience in AI-powered imaging, and gaming.
The Reno13 Series also delivers a powerful gaming experience, thanks to the Dimensity 8350’s Mali-G615 6-core GPU, which achieves a 60% boost in peak performance with up to 55% greater efficiency.
Moreover, OPPO’s proprietary AI Linkboost on the Reno13 series enables efficient network usage for messages, photos and videos. The Reno13 Series also features BeaconLink technology which ensures reliable communication during network outages. It allows seamless one-to-one voice calls via Bluetooth in non-network environments such as underground garages, music festivals, etc.
The Reno 13 Series also packs AI-based productivity with GenAI assistants, powered by the Google Gemini LLM. With the Documents app combines powerful tools like AI Summary, AI Rewrite, and Extract Chart.
AI Toolbox 2.0 boosts productivity with intelligent features like AI Summary, Screen Translator, AI Writer, and AI Reply. These tools are accessible from the sidebar that detects the app in use and suggests relevant tools for seamless integration.
