In this age of smartphones, it looks strange when a company announces the launch of feature phones. But, India is a huge market and there is still some demand for feature phones in remote areas. To tap such demand, Panasonic has announced two feature phones – EZ240 & EZ180. These phones are already available in retail outlets across India. Commenting on the launch, Mr. Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India said “With these new offerings, Panasonic is focusing on expanding beyond the metros and delivering a remarkable mobile experience to the Indian mass consumers in tier II & tier III cities. This launch is a testimony to the company’s focus in reaching out to these markets which are increasingly price-sensitive perfectly matching to our consumers’ needs for affordable solutions.”
The EZ240 has a 2.4-inch display, and is priced at Rs 1790. It has features like FM recording, FM Alarm, 1.3 MP back camera, GPRS support, A2DP Bluetooth support, LED torch light, and 1200mAh battery. This phone is available in combination of three colours- silver with black back, grey with grey back and white with black back.
On the other hand, the Panasonic EZ180 has a 1.8-inch display, and a 0.3MP camera. This phone is packed with a 1000mAh battery and supports Bluetooth and GPRS. It is available in blue, white and grey shades.
Both the above phones offer Hindi support and security features like mobile tracker, security Inbox & application privacy.
It will not be easy for Panasonic to get leverage in the fragmented feature phones market in India, which is dominated by Nokia,Samsung,Micromax and Karbonn etc, brands. Probably, they are late entrant to this segment also.
