Samsung has quietly announced Galaxy Mega Plus phablet with 5.8 inch display, which is a slightly upgraded version of Galaxy Mega phablet, which was launched last year. The new Samsung Galaxy Mega Plus has been listed on the company’s China site, but there is no word about its availability schedule and pricing.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega Plus, which is the successor of Galaxy Mega 5.8, also has 5.8 inch display with resolution of 960 x 540 pixels with dual-SIM capability and dual standby. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz UI on top. The only difference from the previous model is that the new Galaxy Mega Plus is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, whereas the Galaxy Mega 5.8 was driven by 1.4 GHz dual core processor.
The Galxy Mega Plus comes with 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. It is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 1.9-megapixel front facing camera. It is packed with a 2600mAh battery. For connectivity, the Mega Plus includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GLONASS, GPS and 3G support.
In the Galaxy Mega series, Samsung had two phablets – Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3. Galaxy Mega Plus would be the third entrant in this family and there are minor differences in these devices i.e. of screen size, and SIM capability. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 is single SIM phablet.
