Samsung is not only world-leader in smartphones, but also the pioneer and innovator of new technology. Samsung is the first company in the world, which has introduced many firsts in their Galaxy range of smartphones and made popular the concept of big screen smartphone. The big screen smartphones known popularly as phablet have become craze among the consumers after huge success of Galaxy Note range of smartphones introduced by Samsung. To take the technology one step ahead, Samsung has now introduced GALAXY ROUND, the world’s first curved display smartphone.
With this pioneering curved display technology, GALAXY ROUND blends the latest smartphone screen innovations with unique design features. The sleek and thin Samsung GALAXY ROUND, which is variant of Galaxy Note is equipped with a 5.7” Full HD Super AMOLED with 7.9mm thick and weighs 154g offers a comfortable hand grip feeling to user, and exclusive experiences of curved display.
Powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core processor, the Galaxy Round has a 13 megapixel camera and a 2 mega-pixel front camera. The connectivity options include Wi-Fi, BlueTooth. It has 3GB RAM along with 32 GB + microSD (up to 64GB) memory. It runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.3 OS. It is packed with 2,800mAh battery.
As per Samsung, tilt function is its key feature, which enables user to check information such as date, time, missed call and battery easily when home screen is off.
When the GALAXY ROUND’s display is off while the music player is running, a short press to the left of the device will play the previous track while a short press to the right will play the next track. For pictures and videos, the Side Mirror feature enables users to gain access to list of the album content with a left and right tilt.
The large screen size of the GALAXY ROUND provides additional benefits to users. Useful One-Hand Operation features bring a user’s most desired controls closer to a preferred side of the screen.
The device enables enhanced multitasking capabilities that allow users to fully utilize the larger screen through Multi Window, a feature that enables users to open more than one application on the screen, run simultaneous multiple instances of the same application or to easily share content between applications, adds Samsung.
Just like Galaxy Note 3, its back cover features a leather-and-stitch-inspired design, which looks elegant and artistic.
Samsung GALAXY ROUND is available in Luxury Brown, and more colors will be available soon.The Galaxy Round initially would be available only in South Korea through South Korea’s biggest mobile carrier SK Telecom Co Ltd, and would costs 1.089 million won ($1,000). Samsung has not disclosed yet its plans to release this product in other markets. Probably, they want to test the waters in the domestic market before announcing release in other international markets.
LG Electronics also has plans to come out with their smartphone with curved display in the month of November. And, now both the South Korean giants will compete against each other with this pioneering technology, but Samsung has already taken the initiative and will always be ahead of its contemporaries.
