Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge Launched With Dual Pixel Rear Cameras, Always-On Display

4-samsung-galaxy-s7-220116As expected, South Korean giant Samsung has launched their two flagship smartphones on the eve of MWC 2016 in Barcelona. The two smartphones unveiled are – Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. These two devices run on the latest Marshmallow OS and will be available starting mid-March 2016 in select markets. These  phones will be available in four different colours – Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium. These two smartphones will also debut in India in the month of March as India is very important and successful market for Samsung.

Both the Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 edge are constructed with 3D glass and metal – all in a sleek design with durability and ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip. The USP of these two devices are that they are equipped with Dual Pixel rear cameras, Always-On Super AMOLED Display,  water and dust resistance feature, 4GB RAM and very fast processor.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 features  a 5.1-inch QHD Super Amoled display( 2560 X 1440 (577ppi)) and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a 5.5-inch QHD Super Amoled display (2560 X 1440 (534ppi). Both the devices have an Always-On display similar to LG G5’s display which was also announced yesterday. This display enable you to check important notifications, time and date without having to wake up the device.

Both the devices will come with two different processor options, depending on the markets- Exynos 8890 64-bit octa-core (2.3GHz quad-core + 1.6GHz quad-core) processor or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core (2.15GHz dual-core + 1.6GHz dual-core) processor. To address the issues of  heating, Samsung has incorporated liquid cooling technology in these two devices.

The new flagship Galaxy smartphones come with 4GB RAM (LPDDR4) and will be available in 32GB and 64GB internal storage options. Both the devices have the hybrid SIM card tray allows users to insert a microSD card for up to 200GB of additional storage and in some select countries, the tray can be used with a dual SIM card.

The Galaxy S7 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery and Galaxy S7 edge has 3,600mAh battery. Both the devices come with fast wired and wireless charging technology.

On the camera front, both the smartphones have a 12MP dual pixel f/1.7 rear camera with smart OIS and a 5MP(F1.7) selfie shooter. According to Samsung, ” Dual Pixel camera has ben introduced for delivering brighter and sharper images, even in low light. Thanks to the revolutionary Dual Pixel technology, brighter lens with wider aperture, and bigger pixel, the camera has a faster shutter speed and a more accurate autofocus even in low-light conditions. Motion Panorama, a new camera mode, brings movement to traditional panoramic photos, giving the user a completely immersive visual experience.”

Both the models support 4G (LTE Cat 9), NFC and MST payment technologies, Samsung KNOX, are IP68 certified water and dust resistance. The Galaxy S7 has dimensions of 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9mm and its weight is 152g whereas the S7 Edge has dimensions of 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7mm, and weighs 157g.
