Samsung Launches Mid-Range Galaxy Grand Quattro For Rs. 17,290

To expand its portfolio of Galaxy range of smartphones and to give tough fight to domestic handsets makers like Micromax, Karbonn and upcoming mid-range devices of ZTE of China, Samsung has launched today a new smartphone – Galaxy Grand Quattro – in India, at MRP of Rs. 17,290. However, this phone is available on the Samsung India e-store for Rs 16,900, and on online retail stores – Flipkart, HomeShop18 and Indiatimes for Rs. 16,570.

The Galaxy Grand Quattro is a Dual-SIM smartphone, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. It runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI layer on top. It comes with 8GB internal memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card, and is packed with a 2,000mAh battery.

The Galaxy Grand Quattro appear to be stripped down version of Galaxy Grand Duos, which is highly successful model of Samsung and is selling in good numbers. The Galaxy Grand Quattro has a 4.7-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, whereas Galaxy Grand has a 5-inch screen.  It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and a VGA front facing camera, whereas the Galaxy Grand comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera.

The GALAXY Grand Quattro comes pre-loaded with ChatOn, Samsung’s unique cross-platform communication service that enables the users to socialize with friends and to do more than just instant messaging.

“Galaxy Grand Quattro is a revolutionary device that combines powerful performance with smart multi tasking and advanced usability .Following the success of the Galaxy Grand introduced in January this year , we are confident that the Galaxy Grand Quattro will meet the needs of consumers looking for the ‘Grand’ experience in a slightly smaller display,” said Mr. Vineet Taneja, Country Head, Samsung Mobile, while announcing the launch of the Galaxy Grand Quattro.

As a special introductory offer, the device will come with a digital wallet of Rs 3,000 valid for 90 days applicable on games. In December last year, Samsung had said it sold over 10 million Galaxy devices in India since the launch of the first Galaxy device, ‘Galaxy S’, in June 2010. Its range of Galaxy devices includes Galaxy S, Galaxy Y Galaxy SII, SIII, SIV, Galaxy Grand Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2.
