Samsung Unveils ATIV S Windows 8 Smartphone

Whether it is Android or Windows mobile operating software, Samsung wants to remain ahead in the race. Probably after getting adverse ruling in its patent lawsuit against Apple, Samsung does not want to put all its eggs in one basket and also using its expertise to keep on launching Windows smartphones also. To take advantage of upcoming new Windows 8 OS on 26th October, 2012, Samsung has unveiled its ATIV S smartphone, which will be powered by Microsoft’s new Windows 8 OS, in an event in Berlin on Wednesday.

This smartphone sports a 4.8″ inch Super AMOLED HD  display with Gorilla Glass 2, 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 8 MP rear camera and 1.9 MP front-facing camera, 2,300 mAh battery, 1 GB RAM, 16/32 GB internal storage and is just 8.7 mm  thick.

Samsung is expected to ship its first Windows Phone 8 model in the fourth quarter, 2012.

Samsung has already captured Android arena and after losing the patent battle to Apple, the company wants to try its luck with Microsoft’s Windows 8 mobile software, for its future smartphones should it face future legal problems with Android OS. Unlike other companies like Nokia and RIM, Samsung does not want to  restrict itself to just one OS especially when it has the option to use other OS. Moreover, its arch-rival Apple does not have any issue with Microsoft for its Windows OS.
