As expected, Samsung has unveiled on Wednesday Galaxy Note II smartphone-cum-tablet combo at its Mobile Unpacked Berlin event before the start of IFA consumer electronics show, 2012.
Galaxy Note II will be powered by latest Android Jelly Bean, 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and features 5.5″ inch Super AMOLED HD display, 2 GB of RAM, 8 MP rear camera, 1.9 MP front camera and a huge 3,100 mAh battery. This device will be 9.4 mm thin and will be available in 16/32/64 GB memory configurations.
The Note is designed to work well with a stylus pen, which is its signature features, for jotting notes and drawing on a screen. Samsung has introduced some unique features in this device like Air View, which allows users to hover with the Stylus-Pen over an email, image gallery, or video to preview its content without having to open it. With the Popup Note in Note II, users can make/edit a note on the screen while using another app. The Note’s large screen also makes the phone more like a tablet and more suitable for playing games and consuming content.
“Last year at IFA, we launched the Galaxy Note, which opened a new category of smart mobile devices. This year, again at IFA, I am proud to announce the GALAXY Note II, which will encourage users to ‘unleash their inner creativity.’ With a perfect viewing experience and unique and differentiated features, users can discover information and capture their ideas faster, express thoughts freely and manage tasks more efficiently. For anyone who wants to be creative, expressive and unique, the Samsung GALAXY Note II will be the ideal device, allowing users to live a life extraordinary,” said JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
The Galaxy Note II will be available in two colours – Marble White and Titanium Gray. The new phone will go on sale in Europe and Asia in October and the company has not disclosed yet its price.
Samsung may have lost patent battle to Apple but they have definitely scored victory over Apple by releasing Galaxy Note II and many other models like its hugely popular Galaxy SIII, which is still selling like hot cakes. While Apple restricts itself to releasing only one smartphone each year,Samsung on the contrary release several products to target different types of customers. That includes low-end phones also for price-sensitive customers, who cannot afford expensive devices like Galaxy SII or SIII. This is the reason that Samsung sells more devices than Apple who has only one iPhone to sell at a time and all the consumers can’t afford this expensive phone.
The Galaxy Note II phablet will help Samsung enormously to bounce back after its setback with patent lawsuit with Apple and will pose serious challenge to Apple’s upcoming new iPhone which is expected to be announced on 12th September, 2012.
