Samsung has launched today its entry level smartphone Z2 running on its own Tizen OS. Samsung Z2 is successor of Tizen based Z1, Z3 and is 4G enabled smartphone targetted for those customers who want to switch from feature phone to smartphone. Samsung’s Z2 is priced Rs. 4,590 and will be available in India from August 29, 2016, in three colours – Gold, Black and Wine Red – across mobile phone retail stores. In the online space, this is available exclusively on Paytm.
On the hardware front, this phone comes with basic specifications. This is Dual SIM supporting device and comes with 4 inch WVGA display (480×800 pixels). It is packed with a 1.5GHz Quad-core processor combined with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal memory expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card. It is fueled by a 1500mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving mode feature which keeps the phone operational, even at minimal battery levels.
For photography, this phone is equipped with a 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front camera (0.3-megapixel). Besides 4G connectivity, this phone also offers other connectivity options of Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, GPS , Glonass, 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz and Wi-Fi Direct.
Samsung Z2 comes with free Jio SIM and complimentary access to 4G voice and data for trial period of 90 days. The users of this phone will get access to Jio applications such as My Jio, Jio on Demand, Jio Beats – with unlimited options of latest movies, TV shows and songs across multiple languages during the Jio Preview offer.
The Z2 also incorporates Ultra Data Saving mode feature which is claimed to save up to 40% mobile data by blocking unnecessary background applications from data consumption and by data compression technology. This phone also has a dedicated S bike mode for tension free driving of two-wheelers. It also comes pre-loaded with essential apps for convenience of first time users. This phone supports 12 Indian regional languages.
Samsung Z2 also comes with My Money Transfer built-in app for managing banking transactions. This app allows internet free banking by using the unique MMID which can be linked to the registered smartphone through M Pin set by the user. Money transfer to/from popular private and public banks is supported using standard IMPS.
