Hyundai has launched the 6th generation luxury Elantra sedan in India. The new Elantra comes in five varaints in petrol and diesel – S, SX, SX AT, SX(O) and SX(O) AT with starting price of Rs 12.99 which goes upto Rs. 19.19 lakh (ex-Delhi). The new Elantra will be available in 9 variants with 5 exterior colour options.
The new Elantra will be available in two engine versions -1.6-litre VGT CRDi diesel and a new 2.0-litre petrol engine with 6-Speed Manual and 6-Speed Automatic Transmission. The petrol engine has capacity of 1,999cc with maximum power of 152ps@6200 and maximum torque of 19.6@4,000. The diesel engine has capacity of 1,582 cc with maximum power of 128ps@4,000 and maximum torque of 26.5@1,900~2,750. The new Elantra is claimed to give mileage of 15 Kmpl for petrol and 22.5 Kmpl for diesel with Manual transmission and 18 Kmpl with automatic transmission.
The new Elantra has dimensions of 4,570 x 1,800 x 1,465 mm (length, width and height respectively). It has a wheelbase of 2,700mm and a ground clearance of 165mm.
The new Elantra is based on Fluidic 2.0 design and comes with High Intensity Discharge head lamps, LED Daytime Running light with Positioning lamps, Projector Fog lamps, Split type LED Tail Lamp and Shark Fin Antenna.
The interior of new Elantra has been updated with advanced infotainment system with 8.0 High Definition capacitive touch screen- Audio Video Navigation System (AVN) with rear view camera for improved driver visibility. Multimedia system is equipped with Apple Carplay and Android Auto for seamless integration of app based navigation, streaming audio, voice controlled search capabilities and smartphone applications. It comes with 6 speakers along with SMART SURROUND SYSTEM by ‘Arkamys’ for delivering good sound output.
For safety, the new Elantra comes with 6 Airbags, Reverse parking camera with steering adaptive guidelines & Reverse Parking Sensors, Hill Start Assist Control and Vehicle Stability Management.
The new Elantra comes with 3 Years Unlimited Kilometers warranty, Free Maintenance for 3 Years/30,000 kilometres, 3 years Roadside Assistance, 3 times update on ‘Map Care’ and 3 times Customer ‘Home Visit’. As a goodwill gesture to Hyundai Loyal Customers, additional 4th Year Extended Warranty will also be offered.
The newly launched Elantra will compete with Chevrolet Cruze, Skoda Octavia and Toyota’s Altis.
