Sony has launched today India’s first 4K televisions 55-inch KD-55X9004 and the 65-inch KD-65X9004 for Rs 3,04,900 and Rs 4,04,900 respectively. The current launches are an extension of 84 inch 4K TV that was introduced by the company last year at a price of Rs. 1,699,990.
The 4K Bravia range of TV contain 3,840×1,260 pixels – or approximately 8 million pixels each for red, green and blue. That’s four times more detail than a Full HD TV.
The X9004 series of 4K LED TVs provide many technological advances to achieve stunning picture quality. TRILUMINOSTM Display LED backlighting is used in the TV which significantly achieves wider color gamut and provides a far more natural and vivid viewing experience with a heightened sense of depth. 4K X-Reality PRO, the processing engine up-scales any standard definition content to 4K resolution irrespective of its source from TV broadcast, web videos, blu-ray discs to even low resolution smartphone clips. Also, 4K content will be made available from Sony Pictures in the form of Blu-ray discs with 4K re-mastered logo. These discs will have extra information encoded into them, which the 4K X- Reality Pro can use to deliver fantastic 4K picture quality.
Along with offering the best-ever picture quality, the X9004 series TVs boosts of extraordinary audio enabled by World’s first Magnetic Fluid Speaker design for TV. Unique to Sony, Magnetic Fluid Speaker technology allows a thinner, more efficient loudspeaker that offers faithful reproduction of high-fidelity sound.

In addition, the 4K LED TVs has built in wi-fi and supports direct 3G dongle plug in while offering a wide range of internet connectivity services from Sony entertainment network.
Sony India has ambitious and aggressive plans to increase its market share of TVs in India for year 2013. They will be launching 20 new Bravia models including the 4K Bravia TVs. The new range has stunning features like X-Reality PRO and TriluminosTM display. Sony India also plans to increase their BRAVIA marketing budget to Rs. 250 crore and enhance channel counters to 7,000 in 2013.
