Japanese electronics giant – Sony has launched three new Xperia NXT smartphones in the Indian market – Sony Xperia P, U and Sola.
Priced at Rs 17, 399, Sony’s Xperia U has a 3.5″ inch scratch resistant TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, and is powered by a 1 GHz STE U8500 dual core processor. The phone sports a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus, 16x digital zoom and LED flash. It has 512 MB RAM. The phone has 8 GB internal memory.
The Xperia P features a 4″ inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. The Sony Xperia P is priced at Rs 26,799. The phone comes powered by a 1 GHz U8500 dual core processor. It sports an 8 megapixel camera with auto focus, 8x digital zoom, LED flash. The Xperia P has an internal phone storage of 16 GB and 1 GB RAM.
Sony Xperia Sola is the first Sony handset to come with a floating touch technology. The Xperia Sola is available for Rs 20,449. Sony’s Xperia Sola is NFC-ready, and comes engineered with a 1 GHz dual core processor. It has a 3.7″ inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen and a 5 megapixel camera. It sports a 5 megapixel, auto focus camera with LED flash. It has 8 GB internal storage, microSD memory card slot (supporting up to 32 GB).
All three Sony handsets are running on Android 2.3 and the upgrade to Android 4.0 is on the cards. Sony is also offering 50 GB of free cloud space for life with these newly launched Xperia smartphones.
To promote the above three devices, Sony India has tied up with Tata Teleservices Ltd to provide with free data services up to 3 GB on Tata Docomo platform and about 30 games.
Sony has indicated that it plans to focus solely on its smartphones business, and is planning to phase out its feature phones by end of September 2012.
