Steps To Procure Certificate And Key For Signing Symbian Application

In one of my previous post, i wrote about how to install unsigned applications on symbian (s60v5) mobile phone (Nokia 5230, 5233, 5800, N95, etc). I explained 2 ways of hacking our phone to install unsigned applications by either paying for the HelloOX2 hack or getting key and certificate manually. What i didn’t mention and wasn’t clear about was the topic of “Procurement of certificate and key” for your mobile phone. In this post i am going to explain the procedure to get a certificate and key for your mobile phone.

Before detailing the process, please note that this procedure involves submission of your mobile’s IMEI number. Moreover, there is no method other than this to get hold of certificate and key. So submit the IMEI (Can be accessed by dialing *#06# on your mobile phone) details at your own discretion. Moving on, follow the simple steps given below to get hold of certificate and key unique to your mobile phone :

  1. Create an account at OPDA (Click the link for English version).
  2. Now login to your account and click on “Apply Cer”.
  3. Fill in the asked details (carefully submit IMEI details) and click on “Submit Application”.
  4. Thats it! Now under “My Certificate” tab, a pending status will be shown. So keep checking your account to see if certificate and key have been received or not. It took 3 hours for me to receive certificate and key, however it is advised to wait at least a day in case you don’t receive file within hours.

Now after acquiring certificate and key for your follow the steps given in the below mentioned post to sign applications for your symbian (s60v5) phone and get the most out of your internet mobile phone!

  4. i have tried lot of times to register myself, i am not able to register. i type a username and password, then login and it keeps on saying invalid user or password

  5. Try again in a different browser, chrome or IE. If opda still gives error then try this website s60certkey.com

And NEVER EVER disclose IMEI of your mobile in any forum, blog, website, etc. It’s not recommended.
