Suzuki Motorcycle today launched Suzuki GSX-8R sportbike in India. The GSX-8R features advanced styling with sportbike design.vThe cowling and windscreen of the motorcycle are developed through extensive wind tunnel testing. The cowling improves high-speed stability and provides better wind protection, while the windscreen helps reduce wind noise and buffeting, thus minimizing rider fatigue.
The sharp lines and flat surfaces of the bodywork highlight the GSX-8R’s compact, slim, and well-balanced proportions. Exposed parts like engine and seat rails are painted to showcase their mechanical beauty, while the short muffler which is subtly rising from the right side of the engine further adds to the bike’s slim and compact profile.
At the front are a vertically stacked pair of hexagonal LED headlights that employ a bright mono-focus LED light technology, providing the rider with a clear view of the road ahead. This is further enhanced by an LED position light which creates a sharp look and gives the front end a light and ready-for-action feel. The compact LED rear combination light and LED license plate light are mounted on the slim rear fender that makes the GSX-8R rear end look even shorter and slimmer.
Bold Graphics with iconic typography make the GSX-8R instantly recognizable. This bike comes with 5-inch colour TFT LCD instrument panel which provides a clear, easy-to-read display of information.
The GSX-8R is powered by Suzuki’s new-generation 776cm3 parallel twin DOHC engine that delivers a fine balance of smooth, controllable power from low rpm and the pleasant feeling of free-revving performance at higher speeds. Its 270-degree crankshaft gives the engine power delivery characteristics and a pleasing sound, similar to Suzuki’s V-twin engines.
The patented Suzuki Cross Balancer system, a biaxial primary balancer, helps the engine run smoothly while keeping it compact and lightweight. Complementing this is a sophisticated cooling system inlet control, which maintains consistent engine temperatures and eliminates rough idling, especially when warming up in colder conditions.
The 2-in-1 exhaust system on GSX-8R is designed to enhance both performance and sound. Its two-stage catalytic converter meets stringent Euro 5 standards for emissions, while maximizing power output and overall performance.
Paired with the engine is a six-speed transmission that provides smooth gear shifts and strong acceleration whether shifting normally or without using clutch with the Bi-directional Quick Shift system, which comes as standard.
The GSX-8R’s frame is made from rugged steel pipe, engineered to provide comfort, straight-line stability and nimble handling whether riding through the city, cruising on highways, or tackling winding mountain roads.
The GSX-8R is fitted with forged aluminium separate handlebars, placed lower and further forward to offer a sporty riding position. The lightweight cast aluminium wheels, paired with Dunlop RoadSport 2 radial tires (120/70ZR17 at the front; 180/55ZR17 at the rear) offer great grip and stability.
Its Hitachi Astemo (SHOWA) SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) inverted front forks ensure a smooth and controlled ride, while the Hitachi Astemo (SHOWA) link-type rear suspension enhances both agility and stability. The dedicated link-type mono-shock rear suspension, featuring a preload adjuster, is set to provide straight-line stability and a smooth, controllable ride. Matching to the GSX-8R’s chassis geometry and suspension is a uniquely shaped lightweight aluminium swingarm, enhancing torsional rigidity for nimble handling and stability.
The motorcycle comes with a 14L fuel tank. The rider’s seat is crafted for comfort and support, allowing freedom of movement, making it ideal for sporty riding. The cowl-mounted mirrors not only look sharp but are also designed to improve aerodynamics and wind protection, enhancing the GSX-8R’s modern sporty look.
The Suzuki GSX-8R uses the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) which features a three-mode Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) to adapt to different riding conditions and styles. It also includes the advanced four-mode (including an option to turn off) Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) that boosts rider confidence by providing better control. Furthermore, S.I.R.S. incorporates Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System, Bi-directional Quick Shift System (QS), Antilock Braking System (ABS) and Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist, all contributing to a superior riding experience.
TheSuzuki G SX-8R comes with three colors : Metallic Matte Sword Silver, Metallic Triton Blue and Metallic Matte Black No.2. Priced at INR 9,25,000/- (ex-showroom Delhi), this latest sportbike from Suzuki is available at all Suzuki Bike Zones across India.
