Kingston Technology has recently released a USB stick capable of storing 256GB of data. The USb stick is codenamed the DataTraveler 300 and promises to be a handy tool for those people suffering with lack of storage capacity in their netbooks ,notebooks and even with their desktops.
Well I must say that its kind of a new benchmark that has been set up by Kingston for the other manufacturers to follow and also is one of the most significant releases in the history of Flash Technology. 256GB of storage capacity means 365 cds or 51,328 10MP images or 48,640 MP3s thats a whole lot of storage space.
The Datatraveler 300 features the same design as the other models of the series and measures 70.68 x 22.37 x 16.45mm. It is capable of handling 20MB/sec read speeds and 10MB/s write speeds and is compatible with Windows (7, Vista, XP, 2000 & ReadyBoost), Mac OS X10.3+, and Linux. It comes with a standard warranty of 5 years. Along with the Datatraveler you get a Password Traveler software which allows you to fully protect your data.
The USB stick features a MSRP of 565 pounds (without VAT). That’s almost 930 USD. In my opinion the USB stick is a good storage alternative but its too costly for a USB stick moreover with USB 3.0 to be released soon i don’t think its a good choice to purchase one of those as it will soon be taken over by the new 3.0 standard with better read and write capabilities.
