Leading Chinese brand Xiaomi after making significant inroads into mobile segment in India has expanded its portfolio and launched today its first smart home product, Mi Air Purifier 2. This Purifier is aggressively priced at Rs. 9,999 and will be available on Mi.com starting 26 September at 12 PM. It will also start selling on Flipkart from 2nd October.
The Mi Air Purifier 2 is a smart device and connects to the cloud via Wi-Fi, enabled by the Mi Home app ( available on Android and iOS), which acts as the central hub for a range of smart home products from Mi Ecosystem and other third-party companies.
The Mi Air Purifier 2 has 360° triple-layer filter which removes harmful PM2.5 particles, dust, indoor plant pollen, pet fur and more. With its high 310m3/h CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate), it just takes 10 minutes to circulate purified air in a 21 sq mt. room.
The other advantage of this device is that the Mi Home app also monitors the filter’s lifespan and sends a reminder when it needs to be replaced. The price of replacement filter is Rs. 2,499 and the life of the filter is approximately 6 months and it is very easy to replace.
The Mi Home app transforms the smartphone into a remote for users to control Mi Air Purifier 2 from any location. You can switch modes – Power on and off. This Purifier has three modes of operation – auto, night, and manual. When in Auto mode, the speed of the air purifier’s motor is automatically adjusted according to the air quality. This Purifier has built-in sensors and therefore you are not required to adjust the settings for clean air.
The motor of the Purifier is extremely energy efficient with a low power consumption of 4.8W, while advanced aerodynamics reduce noise and wind resistance, resulting in a noise level as low as 30dB in Night mode. This device has brushless DC Motor and has Dual fan design.
To increase awareness about air pollution, Xiaomi is the first smartphone brand in India to integrate Air Quality Index (AQI) data — which also reflects the measurement of PM2.5 particles in the air — into its MIUI 8 Weather app which is available in beta.
