At an event in China, Xiaomi has unveiled Mi MIX 2 smartphone at an event in China. The highlights of this phone is its 5.99-inch (2160 × 1080 pixels) Full HD Display with 18:9 aspect ratio compared to the 17:7 available on the Mi Mix. It is now 11.9% smaller than Mi Mix. The 18:9 aspect ratio has been made populart by Samsung and LG on their high-end smartphones.
The Mi Mix 2 gets the power from 2.45GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU. It comes with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with storage options of 64GB / 128GB / 256GB. This is Dual SIM phone and is packed with 3400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. This phone runs on Android 7.1 (Nougat) with layer of MIUI 9. It also incorporates fingerprint sensor on the back.
On the imaging front, this phone is mounted with 12MP rear camera with Sony IMX386 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, Dual LED flash, 4K video recording and 4-axis optical stabilization. For selfies, it has 5MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording capability.
For audio output, this phone incorporates a hidden 50mW speaker that only takes up a thin sliver of space between the top edge of the phone and the screen instead of the piezoelectric speaker solution in Mi MIX.
It offers standard connectivity options of 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac dual-band (2×2 MU-MIMO ), GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C.
This phone has been designed by world-renowned designer Philippe Starck and has ceramic back with four-sided curved design with aluminium alloy frame. It comes in black color.
This phone is priced CNY 3299 (approx Rs. 32,500) for 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage version, CNY 3599 (approx Rs. 35,300) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage version, and CNY 3999 (roughly Rs. 39,500) for the 6GB RAM/ 256GB storage variant. Xiaomi has also announced Mi MIX 2 Special Edition, with a full ceramic body which comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage only and is priced 4699 yuan (Rs. 46,060 approx). It comes in Black and White colors.
