Vivo has been quite successful with its V series of smartphones and have launched now new X series with two smartphones – Vivo X50 and X50 Pro. I have the opportunity to test Vivo X50 for few days and my experience with the phone was quite good. Vivo phones are quite popular especially with youngsters for its camera capabilities who use it lot for their photographic skills and Viivo X50 is focussed for such users. Vivo has taken huge jump with X series and have knocked at the door of first pedestal of premium segment. These are camera-centric phones with beautiful designs. Whether X50 will attract the consumers despite the fact that it is not armed with the latest high-end Snapdragon 865 Processor? Let us see below:
Vivo X50 has been introduced in the market with good looks and features enriched cameras in the rear and front. The moment you take out the X50 phone from the box, it will attract you with its matte glass finish on the back and its light weight which is approximately 175gms. This phone comes in two colors -Frost Blue and Glaze Black colours and I got Frost Blue colored phone which to be true looks dope. The plus point with matte glass finish is that the phone will not slip our of your hand and if you still feel uncomfortable then you can always use the back cover which comes in the box. On the back you will find two-step designed rectangular camera module which gives it distinct and refined look. The three lenses are placed on the grey platform and the fourth sensor is placed on the metallic slab. The camera module is little protuded but it does not create any issue.
At the bootm is given USB Type-C port, SIM Slots tray and speaker which reproduces clear and fairly loud audio. On the right side of the phone, tactile responding power button and volume rockers are given. You will not find 3.55mm headphone jack on this phone. The display is curved from all sides to add dash to the front design also. In this price range, Gorilla Glass protection is expected which is missing on this phone.
The X50 comes with 6.56-inch (2376×1080 pixels) Full HD+ AMOLED Display with thin bezels. The edge to edge display has punch hole camera on left at the top and also has in-display fingerprint sensor which is accurate and unlocks the phone is split second. Vivo infact is the innovator of in-display technology and has refinded it to great extent. The display has 90Hz refresh rate and also supports HDR+10 and it is a treat to scroll the display and you will enjoy watching media content and playing game on it as it reproduces true colors. When using the phone outside of your room or in daylight the display remains bright which will not hinder your usage.
On the performance front, this phone is packed with Octa Core Snapdragon 730 8nm processor with Adreno 618 GPU and comes with two variants of 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB/256GB (UFS 2.1) storage which are non-extendable. But 128 or 256GB of stoarge are more than enough for majority of users. I got 128GB variant for testing. The processor used in this phone is not the latest one in Snapdragon 7 series. I would have preferred 765G processor on this also which has been used in its elder sibling X50 Pro and which is the latest processor for mid-segment. Anyhow, even with this processor and 8GB RAM, I did not face any lags while opening multiple apps and websites in Chrome. Switching between the apps also runs smoothly. For gaming, this phone will not disappoint you as you can play your favourite games without frame drops. The Ultra Game Mode makes your gaming experience quite refreshing.
This phone is packed with 4200mAh battery with 33W fast charging which is good enough for full day usage even if you are heavy users and quite frequently scan mails, news websites, check social medias and see lot of You Tube content and play games. You need not carry Power Bank with you for this phone and can easily fulfill all your requirements on this phone with single full charge. Moreover, the phone can be charged from zero to full in approxiamtely 70 minutes with 33W charger which comes in the box which is quite commendable. This phone runs on Funtouch OS 10.5 based on Android OS. This layer of Vivo comes with lot of bloatwares and repetitive apps but of late Vivo has made it quite clean. To remove the clutter, you can uninstall many unwanted apps to look your display neat.
The most hyped feature of this camera is its cameras on the back and on front. This phone is armed with four cameras on the back consisting of 48MP rear camera with f/1.6 aperture, Sony IMX598 sensor, OIS, 8MP 120° Super-wide lens, 13MP sensor with f/2.48 sensor with feature of Bokeh and 20x Digital zoom & 5MP macro sensor with F/2.48 sensor. With the main camera, you can click images in daylight with lot of details and brightness. It reproduces actual colors and images look quite natural. The images captured in night carry lot of details without much of noise and look quite good courtesy the Night mode on the camera. The Super Wide sensor of 8MP with 120 degree field of view captures images in good details with good color reproduction and macro sensor delivers close shots beautifully. The selfieacro a camera of 32MP also delivers commendable images for posting on your social media platforms. Some of the images captured with this camera in different environments and modes are reproduced below:

Summing up
The Vivo X50 has all the ingredients to make it an allrounder. Its elegant design and camera capabilities are its forte and two of the most compelling features to have a serious look at this phone. The display and battery life of this phone adds to its plusses. This phone is priced Rs. 34,990 for 128GB variant and Rs. 37,990 for 256GB variant which looks little bit on the higher side. This phone will compete with OnePlus Nord which has been launched two days ago which starts at Rs. 28K for the 128GB variant. You can consider X50 if you are looking for distinctly designed phone with good cameras for good reproduction of images.
