Microsoft India has announced the launch of the official Amar Chitra Katha comic application, ‘ACK COMICS’ exclusively for Windows 8 tablets and notebooks. Amar Chitra Katha is India’s favorite storyteller. A legendary household name in India, Amar Chitra Katha is synonymous with Indian fables from the great epics, mythology, history, literature and oral folktales. With more than 400 comics in 20 languages that have sold over 90 million copies to date, Amar Chitra Katha is a cultural phenomenon, popular across the world.
Speaking at the launch, Vineet Durani, Director – Windows Phone Business Group, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. said, “At Microsoft, we are constantly looking for ways to boost the apps offering and make it more relevant for the consumer. This is yet another step in that direction. Amar Chitra Katha comics are an Indian childhood staple and we are sure consumers will be delighted with the addition of this app to their tablets and notebooks.”
ACK Comics app will be available exclusively on the Windows 8 platform for the first month. The Editor’s Pick of five comics – Shakuntala, Birbal the Wise, Tirupati, Tenzing Norgay and Anant Pai will be available free of cost to Windows 8 users. In addition, there will be three more comic titles, again available free, even after the first month -. The free app will bring the entire library of Amar Chitra Katha titles to Windows 8 users in a downloadable, easy-to-read format. Consumers can read their comics on multiple devices using a single user account in either Flipbook mode (standard, page by page) or Panel-by-Panel mode (for ease of reading on smaller devices).
