At CES 2017, Asus has expanded its portfolio of Zoom series and announced ZenFone 3 smartphone. The USP of Asus ZenFone is its Dual 12MP rear cameras with optical zoom and its massive 5000mAh battery.
This phone has dual-camera system comprising of two 12MP cameras, one with a f/1.7-aperture, 25mm wide-angle lens and a second with a 59mm lens, f/2.0 aperture and 5 P Largan lens. According to Asus, the users can instantly switch from the 25mm primary camera to the 59mm camera, giving them a 2.3X optical zoom that is perfect for portraits and capturing distant subjects.
It incorporates TriTech+ autofocus system that enables you to choose one of three autofocus methods – Dual Pixel PDAF, subject tracking autofocus, and second-generation laser focus — depending on the situation to achieve accurate focus in just 0.03 seconds, even when photographing moving subjects.
The camera of this phone boasts of SuperPixel technology which Asus claims enable the camera on ZenFone 3 Zoom to have 2.5-times (2.5X) greater light sensitivity than iPhone 7 Plus and 10-times (10X) that of an average smartphone.
This phone is also equipped with 13MP front-facing camera (Sony IMX214 sensor) for selfies with f/2.0 aperture.
This phone features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with different varinats of 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB / 64GB / 128GB (eMMC) storage which can be further extended upto 2TB via microSD card.
This phone supports Hybrid Dual SIM (micro+nano/microSD) and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Zen UI 3.0 on top. This phone is packed with huge 5000mAh batterymwhich is claimed to offer 42 days of standby time and 6.4 hours of continuous 4K UHD video recording on a single charge. The battery of this phone can be used for charging other devices.
This phone offers connectivity options of 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB Type-C. This phone has 7.9mm full-metal body and its weight is 170 grams. It has fingerprint sensor on the back.
This phone will start rolling out starting February 2017 and prices will be announced close on the heels of launch in respective markets. It will be available in Glacier Silver, Sapphire Black and Rose Gold colors.
