Google has announced yesterday LG Nexus 5X smartphone alongwith Huawei made Nexus 6P at an event in US. The Nexus 5X is the third Nexus device made by South Korean giant LG. This shows how much confidence Google reposes in LG for its hardware capabilites. The Nexus 5X will run on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
“We are excited to be able to work with Google again on developing Nexus 5X, our best Nexus yet,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications. “This time, we wanted to deliver the best hardware for Google’s most advanced software and we’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
Nexus 5X features a 5.2-inch 423ppi Full HD IPS display with advanced In-Cell Touch technology that is claimed to enable faster recognition, better outdoor visibility and crisper images. It is powered by 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB internal storage options.
Nexus 5X is equipped wih 12.3MP rear camera and a 5MP camera in the front. Both the 1.55um sensor on the rear camera and 1.4um above the display are capable of absorbing more light than any previous Nexus device for delivering brighter photos with godd details even in less than ideal lighting conditions, as claimed by LG. Nexus 5X is also capable of capturing 4K and slow-motion videos.
This device has Type-C USB port, which according to LG has fast charging feature and a 10-minute charge will provide enough power for almost four hours of battery life.
The other novel feature of Nexus 5X is its fingerprint sensor, which Google calls, which is located on the back, where your finger naturally falls. With a single touch of the sensor, you can power on and unlock Nexus 5X for immediate use. In US, Nexus Imprint will also work with Android Pay for doing transactions at thousands of locations nationwide.
Nexus 5X is now available for pre-order on the Google Store (store.google.com) in the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Korea and Japan with shipping to start late next month. Starting October 19, Nexus 5X will begin rolling out to additional markets with nearly 40 countries including India to offer the device via Google Store. This device and Nexus 6P will also be available via local retail establishments in the fourth quarter.
The LG Nexus 5X is priced $379 for 16GB and $429 for 32GB variants. In India, 16GB version will cost Rs. 31,900. The new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P will be available in India by the end of this month.
