Gionee Elife S5.1 Enters Guinness World Records As The World’s Slimmest Smartphone

After remaining silent for few months, Gionee of China is in news again for achieving the world record of its new device. According to Gionee, its latest smartphone the Elife S5.1, which comes with a 5.1mm body, has been recognised by Guinness Book of World Records as the slimmest smartphone in the world. Just for the information of our readers, Gionee had launched its Elife S5.5 with thickness of 5.5 mm earlier this year and at that time, it was the slimmest phone in the world. It appears Gionee has penchant for slimness.

gionee_elife_s5_1_chineseThe record breaking slimmest Elife S5.1 has been launched in China at approximately $325, and is expected to debut in India in November. This smartphone is expected to be in the price range of Rs. 20,000. Gionee had launched its Elife S5.5 in India in the month of March for Rs. 22,999.

“We are excited to have made it to the Guinness World Records for the world’s thinnest smartphone category. The Gionee Elife S5.1 has been launched in China and will be available in India by early November,” Gionee Smartphones India Head Arvind Vohra told PTI.

The Elife S5.1 form is of both glass and metal. This smartphone features a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM, with no provision to extend it further. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS with Amigo 2.0 UI superimposed on it.

The Elife S5.1 is equipped with a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and also houses a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Besides other connectivity options, it will also have LTE connectivity, but support for Indian LTE bands is not known at this point of time.

The Elife S5.1 will be available in Black, White, Pink, and Mint Green colour variants.

Gionee company had started its operations in India in 2013 and in a short span of time, it has made significant progress in the Indian market. Gionee claims to have sold over 3 million devices in India as per their recent TVC.
