Google Nexus 7 Tablet Available In India At Exorbitant Price Of Rs 19,999

The best selling Android tablet and the gadget of the year Google’s Nexus 7 tablet is making debut in India today at at a price of Rs 19,999 for the 16 GB WiFi version. The tablet, that has received rave reviews, and has hit a sale of one million per month, will be available at Croma outlets across India and will also be sold by many other retailers.

Google Nexus 7 tablet is manufactured by Taiwan-based hardware vendor Asustek. Google updated the Nexus 7 tablet released earlier this year. It increased the storage on the $199 version of the device to 16 GB from 8 GB, and introduced a new $299 version of the Nexus 7 with a cellular data service option.

The tablet runs on Android Jelly Bean (version 4.1) and is powered by Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, which clocks at 1.3 GHz. Nexus 7 comes with 7″ inch IPS display screen with a 1280×800 resolution. The other features of the tablet include 1 GB RAM, 1.2 megapixel front camera and 4325 mAh battery.

But we are disappointed with the high price tag of Rs. 19,999. As blogged by us earlier, this tablet should have been priced below Rs. 15,000, keeping in view of the fact that its Dollar price is 199 and after converting in today’s rate of exchange, it works out to Rs. 11,000 and after adding custom duty, the price of Rs. 15,000 look fair and attractive.

Google also unveiled a new Nexus 4 smartphone, made in partnership with LG Electronics, that features a quad-core processor and a 4.7-inch display, and Google Nexus 10-inch tablet with 16 GB internal storage, which is made by Samsung and will sell for $399. But what will be prices of these devices for India, will be known when these gadgets will debut in India.
