Google Plans To Introduce 10-Gigabit Per Second Internet Service

Google has revealed its plans to provide incredible Internet connections of 10 gigabits per second, which would be 10 times faster than what it already delivers to customers of its Fiber service in the Kansas City area. This was revealed by Google at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet conference held last week.  Google’s Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette disclosed that the company is working on a technology that would offer 10Gbps Internet speed in the future, as reported by USA Today.

According to Patrick Pichette, it could take as long as 10 years to create the technology, but Google is hopeful of delivering it by 2017.

The average US internet speed for U.S  is about 9 megabits per second, and now Google is trying to push it further by at least 1,000 times, which would make online streaming of content a very easy job. In Kansas City Google already delivers world’s fastest Internet service at speeds of 1 gigabit (about 1,000 megabits) per second. At 10 gigabits per second, Google’s futuristic Internet speed would break all hurdles of downloading the contents.

Currently, majorityof users do not require even 1Gbps speed these day. But the requirement may change in the future when their will be significant rise in online streaming content, and the  reliance on cloud storage from consumers as well as business customers would grow.  Moreover,  4K content demand is also expteced to rise significantly in the future. Google has kept these demands for future in mind and this is the reason that they are developing 10 gigabits internet service.
