IBNLive Mobile App: Live News, Video Streaming, Blogs, Photo’s and More On The Go!

CNN-IBN has released a dedicated mobile application for Nokia, Android, Blackberry and iPhone for delivering high quality news, blogs, videos, pictures, etc on the small screen free of cost! IBNLive mobile application has been developed by Divum Corporate Services Limited and delivers live news to your mobile devices other than offering live video streaming of their news channel IBNLive, blogs (Rajdeep Sardesai, Sagarika Ghose, Jaimon Joseph, Suhasini Haider, Gaurav Kalra, etc), photos and more.

IBNLive mobile application is a touch based app (You can buy cheap mobile phones at the best online mobile retailer Dialaphone). The home-screen of IBNLive mobile app displays the breaking news under each section viz. India, World, Sports, Cricket, Politics, Business, Tech, Football, Masand’s Verdict, etc. All of these categories can be easily turned on/off by tapping on the “Customise” tab (which is very helpful to view preferred news based on individual requirements). On the top left side of the home-screen there’s a “Section” tab, tapping which brings you to a highly categorised screen that allows you to view latest news under different heads viz. Under “News” category you can choose to view niche specific (India, Politics, Movies, Tech, Masand’s Verdict, Business, World, Football, Sports & Trends) news; Under “Cities” category you can view latest news of different states of India (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc); In “Cricket” category you can check out the recent results of matches, live scores of ongoing matches, fixtures and cricket related news.

At any time you can tap on the “Live TV” tab at the bottom of the screen to view the live streaming of IBNLive news channel. When I tried to view the live video streaming and other video’s the video quality was excellent, clarity was top notch however the buffering took a lot of time when used with GPRS/EDGE. I guess live streaming will do best when used with wifi or 3G. The 2 negative aspects of this application I found hindering an otherwise good user experience were:

  1. Lag in transition (between different section) and
  2. No EXIT tab. There’s no other way to exit the application other than pressing the Red key on your mobile phone or using the task manager to kill the application.

IBNLive mobile application is available for download for iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia and Android mobile phones. IBNLive is a touch based application and is therefore available for the touch based device of the aforesaid phones. It is compatible with touch-screen phone running on Android Version 1.6 or higher e.g., Samung, Sony-Ericsson, Motorola, LG, Videocon and HTC Android phones; Blackberry Bold, Blackberry Curve, Blackberry Pearl and Blackberry Torch; iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad; Nokia C5, C7, E7, 5250, 5233, 5228, N8, C6, 5230 Nuron, 5235, N97 mini, X6, 5530, N97 and 5800.

Except of the Apple users, IBNLive mobile application can be downloaded by either pointing your mobile’s browser to http://m.ibnlive.com/app OR visiting the respective stores (OVI Store, Blackberry App World, iTunes App Store, Android Store).
