To expand its portfolio of Iris Pro series of smartphones, the leading Indian handsets maker, Lava International has launched today Iris Pro 20 smartphone with 4.7 inches display at Rs. 13,999. This smartphone will be available in navy blue color and start retailing soon across the country. Three is not much difference betrween Lava’s premiumu smartphone Iris Pro 30, which was launched in January,2014 and Iris Pro 20. The only significant differecne is in resolution of display and capacity of the front camera.
Similar to Iris Pro 30, the Iris Pro 20 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Processor, coupled with a 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, which is expandable upto 32 GB with memory card. It features a 8 Mega Pixel Auto Focus back camera with LED flash light and Zero Shutter Lag (ZSL) and adorns 0.3MP front camera, whereas the Iris Pro 30 has 3MP front shooter. The Iris Pro 20 is a Dual-SIM smartphone and runs Android Jelly Bean version 4.2.1.
The Iris Pro features a 4.7’’ qHD (540×960 pixels) IPS display whereas the Iris Pro 30 display has resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Like Iris Pro 30, the Iris Pro 20 also comes with a fully laminated touch panel and has Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection, and this glass is considered to be five times harder than the normal glass. Moreover, the full lamination eliminates air gaps between LCD and glass and makes it look perfectly black in sleep mode.
The Iris PRo 20 is 7.7 mm thick compared to Iris Pro 30, which is 7.5mm thick. and weighs a mere 112 grams, lighter than the Iris Pro 30 which is 114 grams, making it one of the lightest phones in India in 4.7” or more screen size category, as claimed by Lava.
Like Iris Pro 30, the Iris Pro 20 is packed with a 2000mAh battery with CABC (Content Adaptive backlight control) technology that enables it to last 30% more compared to conventional smartphone batteries. As claimed by the company, this battery is capabale of delivering talk time of 7.5 hours(2G), 4.5 hours(3G) and standby time of 400 hours.
For connectivity options, the Iris PRo 20 supports 3G, Wi-fi, Bluetooth, and has other connectivity features like OTG, USB tethering and EDGE. The Iris Pro 20 also comes with features such as Smart answering, Direct calling, Flip to mute, Hands free,Conference Call and Call Recorder.
Commenting on the launch of the Iris PRo 20, Mr. Hari Om Rai, Chairman & Managing Director, Lava International Ltd., said, “With the tremendous response that we received after the launch of Iris Pro 30, we are now launching another product in this series to address similar needs at a different price point.” This sums up the reason for introducing Iris Pro 20. Those who have budgetary constraint, can now opt for Iris Pro 20 which is almost like Iris Pro 30 with slight variations.
