LG has announced today that its latest Android wearable, LG G Watch R, will be available on retail shelves in European countries such as France, Italy, Spain and the UK from the beginning of November, followed by key markets in North America, Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) soon after. The customers in select markets will also be able to purchase G Watch R on Google Play in the weeks ahead. LG has not disclosed the price of G Watch R, which will be announced close on the heels of availability in respective markets.
LG G Watch R runs on Android Wear OS, and was showcased at IFA 2014 in Berlin in the month of August.The LG G Watch R is the world’s first smartwatch to feature a circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display and utilizes 100 percent of its watch face.
According to LG, “the most eye-catching feature of the LG G Watch R is its 1.3-inch full circle P-OLED display that produces stunning image clarity even under bright sunlight and superb clarity when viewed from any angle”.
The LG G Watch R is driven by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, paired with 4GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM and a 410mAh battery. This watch is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above and will run all compatible apps available in the Google Play Store.
The LG G Watch R looks like a traditional wearable watch and has a circular watch face. It is elegantly crafted in curves encased in a strong, durable stainless steel frame. This watch has interchangeable 22mm calf skin leather strap, which gives it a glam look.
The LG G Watch R is water-proof and comes with an Ingress Protection Rating of IP67. It is designed to run for up to 30 minutes in one meter of water.
The other features of this watch include voice recognition notifications and smart notifications, which provide users with important reminders of missed calls and messages, upcoming meetings, events, and local weather forecasts.It comes with suite of LG health and fitness apps with which users can also monitor their heartbeats with the support of the embedded photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors.
