MCG Test – India Vs Australia – Day 2 – Match Is Evenly Balanced

Second day of test match being played in MCG, Melbourne between India & Australia, was as entertaining as was on day one. At stumps, India were 214/3, having lost both the openers and Sachin Tendulkar, who was bowled for 73 runs and could not complete his 100th ton. At the crease are Rahul Dravid and night watchman- Ishant Sharma.

It is upto Dravid and next batsmen to follow Laxman,Kohli and Dhoni, to score 450 and take a lead of atleast 100 odd runs to give themselves a chance to win this match. Earlier, Aussies were bowled out for 333 runs.

Our batsmen would have to bat sensibly in the first session of the proceedings tomorrow and then they can take some liberties. It is very essential for our team not to loose early wickets otherwise the pressure will be back on us. Unfortunately, our tailenders does not have much batting depth and it will be important for our middle order batsmen to score as much runs as possible.

Today Virender Sehwag was in his elements and as usual, Aussie cannot afford to see him flourish on their soil and their pacers James Pattinson and Peter Siddle entered into an altercation with him to break his concentration. But he still scored 67 runs in just 83 balls. Aussies will never behave like gentlemen despite warning given by their skipper- Michael Clarke to avoid any controversy. Probably, they want to add spice to this series.

Strategy for day three for India should be to play cautiously first hour and then start losening out slowly. Hope, India will be able to take good lead tomorrow.
