Indian handset maker Micromax is bullish about its recently launched A116 Convas HD phablet and announced today that the company sold over 9000 of the Canvas HD units online in less than 24 hours of commencing the online sales of the device on 14th February.
As per online partner of Micromax, Snapdeal.com, the first lot of the Canvas HD was sold out within 15 minutes of announcing the sale at midnight of 14 February 2013. The second lot of 300 units of the phone was again sold out within 15 minutes of the sale at 09:00 am and the third lot of 1200 phones was sold in 45 minutes with the beginning of the sale at noon on the first day itself. Micromax has booked over 9000 units in less than 24 hours and this figure is going to increase in the coming days.
Commenting on the sales, Mr. Shubhodip Pal, CMO Micromax, said, “The response from our consumers has been phenomenal and the demand has been increasing every passing minute. After the unprecedented success of the Canvas 2, we are overwhelmed with the customer response for Canvas HD. This is the first time our online sales partners have ever witnessed a digital queue in cyberspace to such an extent for any product, to the traditional cue one normally sees. The data also shows that 60% of the orders received online have come from the metros.”
