Software giant Microsoft has forayed into wearable segment and has launched Microsoft Band. Microsoft Band will be available in the United States in limited quantities from Thursday for $199.
Microsoft Band is the first device powered by new app called Microsoft Health, which will help the users achieve their wellness goals by tracking their heart rate, steps, calorie burn, and sleep quality. Microsoft Health service will include a cloud service for users to store and combine health and fitness data. The Microsoft Health app will collect data from the fitness band and will work on iPhones and Android smartphones, as well as Microsoft’s own Windows Phones.
With Microsoft Band, you can track your daily physical activity and review your stats with a glance at your wrist. It is like a personal trainer and guides you to improved wellness by constantly learning about you, your current fitness level, and your future needs.
Microsoft Band has been designed by experts and incorporates built-in GPS and 24-hour heart rate monitoring to help you reach your fitness goals.
Besides health features, the Microsoft Band provides email previews and calendar alert on your wrist. You can also get incoming calls, texts, social updates, weather information etc. without the need to see at your smartphone.
Microsoft has mentioned in its blog post that they have tied up with fitness service providers such as Gold’s Gym, My Fitness Pal, RunKeeper and Map My Fitness to help the users keep a track of their progress. Microsoft intends to expand the partnerships for amazing experience of their Band.
